    The Specialized Lending Analyst will provide support to the Specialized Lending Loan Officer and perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of financial information to assess the risk of purchasing and/or maintaining positions in syndicated loans, as well as other specialized lending products. This position may be called upon to provide opinions on the financial soundness of borrowers and/or prepare portfolio reports. Ultimate decision-making authority will reside with the Specialized Lending Loan Officer.

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluate trends and potential risks that could impact the borrower’s FDIC Leveraged Lending Guidance ratios or ability to repay the credit extension and identify mitigating factors and/or additional information needs to offset these trends and risks.
    • Interact with the Specialized Lending Loan Officer (and, on occasion, the 3rd party portfolio manager) to identify and quantify borrower’s leverage and ability to deleverage through free cash flow; ability to cover fixed charges; and repayment sources, including cash flow and enterprise value.
    • Prepare quarterly review memos for each of the portfolio’s borrowers, including performing financial analysis and providing commentary on the financial condition and trends of the companies.
    • Clearly communicate progress and/or needs in a timely and precise manner.
    • Proactively study the bank’s loan policy and banking regulations to determine whether or not changes to a loan’s terms and/or borrower’s financial position are in compliance.
    • Assist with the monitoring of loan performance in the bank’s specialized lending portfolio.
    • Other job related duties as assigned by the Specialized Lending Loan Officer.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in business related major and at least two accounting courses required; finance-related major a plus
    • At least 1 financial analysis-related internship required; 1+ years financial/credit analysis experience a plus
    • Strong analytical ability
    • Able to perform complex financial analysis
    • Ability to formulate and articulate objective views based on professional credit analysis
    • Careful attention to detail and time management skills are essential
    • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Familiarity/proficiency with S&P Capital IQ or Bloomberg preferred
    • Motivated self-starter and an active learner
    • Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC related responsibilities in the performance of daily operations to ensure adherence to bank policies and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
