    The Director of Purchasing directs the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment, and services for all locations and departments across the Independent Bank footprint.


    • Develop and implement a strategic procurement program reflecting best practices; evaluate current practices and provide recommendations for improvement
    • Manage Purchasing staff; ensure efficient operation of the Purchasing function
    • Develop and establish policies and procedures for the procurement of all products and services
    • Develop and establish policies and procedures for selecting and managing product and service providers; maintain positive working relationships with providers; monitor provider performance and resolve issues as needed
    • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with key partners within the Bank; effectively communicate with key partners and management
    • Use technology as a part of the procurement program to ensure efficient ordering and distribution of products and services
    • Create capital budget annually
    • Meet periodically with the VP, Facilities and Purchasing to provide updates to ongoing issues/concerns
    • Other job related duties as assigned


    • Bachelor’s degree required. Certifications in purchasing or supply management preferred
    • 8-10 years of experience in a Purchasing leadership role
    • Purchasing work experience with a financial institution preferred
    • Must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Strong quantitative skills and established analytical ability; exhibit strategic and forward thinking abilities
    • Must be able to effectively work with several internal and external partners
    • Strong organization and time management skills; must have attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple aspects of the role simultaneously
    • Computer proficiency with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications required; ability to learn new systems
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Must show tact, discretion, confidentiality and good judgement in handling sensitive and confidential matters and documentation; Candidate must be able to think strategically and work with data
    • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency under strict time constraints.
    • Must be a self-starter, be dependable, and have reliable attendance
    • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment
    • Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC related responsibilities in the performance of daily operations to ensure adherence to bank policies and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
